A public response to the challenge
A
well-attended public meeting was held on Friday 8th February 2002
Voluntary Action Lochaber facilitated the meeting.
Thirty-five participants were divided into working groups.
The report of Voluntary Action Lochaber is attached as an appendix.
The report proposes a large number of access projects which in
itself demonstrates the strength of public opinion that things need
to change.
Working Groups
Six groups, each with a different focus, compiled a list of issues
and potential projects. Many of these issues were common to all
the groups.
The working groups were ‘championed’ by members of
Lochaber Mountain Access Group who have specific expertise and interest
in that particular area. These champions recorded ideas, suggestions
and issues within the working group and followed this through leading
a discussion on the results within the larger group.
Working groups were as follows:
- Mountaineering
- Mountain Biking
- Skiing
- Air Sports
- Paddling
- Information & Events
The meetings facilitators detailed observation on all that was
said during the meeting is attached to this report as an appendix.
Further meetings have ‘honed’ this list down to identify
a number of key priority projects from this extensive list
The following are summary
recommendations of the Working Groups for which LMAG are seeking
financial support for further specialist investigation
